How to Apply for NBI Clearance Online (New and Renewal)

Getting an NBI Clearance can now be done online.

It only means that the process of NBI Clearance application is no longer as long and inconvenient as before.

NBI Clearance is one of the important documents and requirements when applying for a job here in the Philippines and abroad. It’s also required for some other purposes.

So if you’re planning to get an NBI Clearance, just follow the steps here and you’ll surely be able to get yours in no time.

How to Get NBI Clearance Online

The easy guide below is for first-time applicants and for applicants whose latest NBI Clearance was issued before 2014.

If you’re issued your latest NBI clearance from 2014 to 2018, SKIP to the next part on NBI Clearance renewal.

Step 1

NBI Clearance Online Account Registration

  1. Visit the NBI Clearance Online Services site.
  2. On the Register box, tick the “No” box next to “Do you have an old NBI clearance?”
  3. Fill out the NBI Clearance Online Account Registration form.
  4. Tick the box next to “I accept terms of service.” Read the Terms of Service and click the Agree button.
  5. Click the Sign Up button. An Important Reminder box will show. Review the information there. Click the Yes button to confirm.
  6. Once you see a confirmation of successful registration on the screen, log in to your account by entering your email address and password.
  7. Fill out the NBI Clearance Online Application Form. Once done, click the Save Information button.
  8. Double-check your information. To make changes to your personal details, click the Edit Information button. Then click the Save Information button again after editing your info.
  9. Click the Apply for Clearance button.
  10. On the Confirmation box, enter the valid ID you’ll present for your NBI clearance application. Although only one ID is being asked for this step, you’ll still need to bring two valid IDs on your scheduled appointment.
  11. Click the I Agree button.

Step 2

NBI Clearance Online Appointment

When your NBI Clearance online registration is complete, the Online Appointment page will appear.

To set a schedule for your personal appearance at an NBI branch, choose an NBI branch (where you want to submit your application) from the drop-down menu.

You’ll see a calendar with open slots (the blue boxes) for your chosen branch. Dates with red boxes indicate a holiday when the NBI branch is closed.

Choose your preferred date and time (either AM or PM option) by clicking on the corresponding button on the calendar.

Step 3

NBI Clearance Fee Payment

Here are the methods or options on how to pay your NBI Clearance.

  • Bank over the counter – Cash deposit at BDO, BPI, Metrobank, PNB, Security Bank, UnionBank, or any partner bank
  • Online bank – Payment via the online banking facility of a partner bank
  • Bayad Center – Cash payment at any Bayad Center outlet or its partners nationwide
  • MultiPay – Payment via MultiPay wallet or at any Bayad Center-MultiPay outlet
  • ECPay – Payment at any ECPay outlet such as RD Pawnshop and San Mig Food Avenue
  • 7-Eleven – Payment using the CLiQQ kiosk at a 7-Eleven branch

How much does it cost to apply for a clearance? The NBI Clearance fee regardless of purpose (local employment, travel abroad, etc.) is PHP 130 plus PHP 25 system fee for the e-payment service, for a total of PHP 155.

The payment center may also charge a service fee for processing your NBI Clearance fee payment.

Here’s how to pay for the NBI Clearance fee:

  1. Choose your preferred payment option on the right side of the Appointment page.
  2. The Payment box will show a reference number and the total amount to be paid. Write down the reference number and click the Accept button.
  3. Go to the nearest branch of the payment option you selected.
  4. Pay for the NBI Clearance fee using your reference number.
  5. To check if your payment went through, sign in to your NBI Clearance online account and click the Transactions button on the left menu. The status should show “Paid” instead of “Pending.”

Step 4

NBI Clearance Application Processing

  1. Go to the NBI Clearance center on your appointment schedule. Bring two valid IDs.
  2. Proceed to the Biometric and Image Capture area. Present your reference number.
  3. Have your photo, fingerprint, and digital signature taken.
  4. The NBI Clearance staff will show you your information from a computer screen. Review all the details thoroughly, making sure everything is correct.
  5. Proceed to the Printing area. Wait for your NBI Clearance to be printed and issued to you.

If you have a hit (which means you have a namesake with a criminal record), the NBI Clearance staff will tell you to come back on a certain date.

You may choose to have your clearance delivered to you if you aren’t available to return to the NBI Branch to claim it. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the NBI Clearance Online Services site.
  2. Find the NBI Clearance eServices section.
  3. Click the “With Hit? NBI Delivery Service” box.
  4. Enter your reference number and birthdate.
  5. Click the Submit button.

How to Renew NBI Clearance

To renew your NBI Clearance online, you need to have your NBI ID Number (which you can find on the top portion of your latest clearance).

If you don’t have the number or lost your previous clearance, you can’t renew it. Instead, you’ll have to go through the NBI Clearance application process again.

You have two options when renewing your clearance: the Quick Renewal service (more convenient but more expensive) and the regular renewal process (requires your personal appearance at an NBI Clearance center but is cheaper).

NBI Clearance Quick Renewal

  1. Visit the NBI Clearance Online Services site.
  2. Under the NBI Clearance eServices section, click the NBI Clearance Quick Renewal button.
  3. Input your NBI ID No. (You can find it on your old NBI Clearance). Click the Verify button.
  4. Fill out the Quick Renewal Delivery form.
  5. Click the Next button.
  6. Indicate your birthdate on the drop-down menu.
  7. Select a payment option (Bayad Center/MultiPay/ECPay).
  8. A Reminder box will appear. Read the instructions and click the Next button.
  9. Take note of the reference number. Click the Proceed button.
  10. Go to the nearest branch of your chosen payment center.
  11. Pay for the NBI Clearance fee using your reference number.
  12. Wait for the delivery of your new NBI Clearance. You’ll receive the document up to five days after the payment date.

How Much is the NBI Clearance Renewal?

The NBI Clearance Quick Renewal fee is PHP 330 (PHP 130 clearance fee + PHP 200 express delivery fee), plus a PHP 25 e-payment service fee, for a total of PHP 355. The express delivery fee may be higher depending on your delivery address.

Regular NBI Clearance Renewal

Step 1: NBI Clearance Online Account Registration

If you’ve already registered for an NBI Clearance online account, you can skip this step and proceed with setting an NBI Clearance online appointment.

However, if you’re renewing your clearance to correct any information on your old clearance, you have to sign up again for an online account.

  1. Visit the NBI Clearance Online Services site.
  2. On the Register box, tick the “No” box next to “Do you have an old NBI clearance?”
  3. Fill out the NBI Clearance Online Account Registration form. Once done, click the Proceed button.
  4. Complete the online form. Tick the box next to “I accept terms of service.” Read the Terms of Service and click the Agree button.
  5. Click the Sign Up button.
  6. On the upper right corner of the website, enter your email address and password to log in to your online account. Click the Sign In button.
  7. Review your information on the Application page. Once done, click the Apply for Clearance button.
  8. On the Confirmation box, enter the type of valid ID you’ll present for your NBI clearance application.
  9. Click the I Agree button.

Step 2: NBI Clearance Online Appointment

Set a schedule for your personal appearance at an NBI branch. Choose an NBI branch from the drop-down menu. Then choose your preferred date and time (either AM or PM option) by clicking on the corresponding button on the calendar.

  1. Choose your preferred payment option.

  3. Go to a branch of the payment option you selected and pay for the NBI Clearance fee using your reference number.

NBI Clearance Requirements

Present at least two valid government-issued IDs, which can be any of the following:

  • Passport
  • Postal ID
  • UMID
  • Driver’s license
  • PSA-issued birth certificate
  • Voter’s ID
  • PhilHealth ID
  • TIN ID
  • Old copy of NBI Clearance
  • School ID
  • PRC card
  • Alien Certificate of Registration
  • Senior Citizen ID
  • Police clearance

Make sure to bring only valid IDs that meet the following NBI clearance requirements:

  • Original copy (NOT Photocopies)
  • In good condition
  • With a clear photo of the applicant
  • Not expired

Non-government-issued IDs such as company ID and Barangay Clearance are not accepted as valid IDs for NBI Clearance application.
